My latest witterings are now available online in a new journal article called Controlling darkness: self, dark and the domestic night at the journal Cultural Geographies. The article is an attempt to open up a research agenda for the domestic night, focusing on the experience of darkness in the night at home. As such it’s part review of current literature on the night in the home, and part conceptual exploration. It’s doing some of the ground work for a broader research project on the domestic night which is one of the possible future directions that I’d be keen on developing. The paper will appear in a special issue of the journal on darkness edited by Tim Edensor – lots of the papers are now on the on-line early access.
For people who cannot access Cultural Geographies, A copy of the pre-published version is now available to view at Durham Research Online.
